00:37:41 and above all his belief that good would always prevail over evil my brother was not only my elder sibling he was my friend
00:37:52 friend my rock someone who helped me to shape my outlook on life my go-to person if I needed help and/or advice in times of trouble my
00:38:06 and/or advice in times of trouble my brother and I did not see each other every day every week or every month we did not need to we shared a deep love respect and understanding for each other

00:40:15 children Elijah Ashton Kaia Tiana and Aliyah ray attended penal Roman Catholic school which he started at the age of five race
00:40:28 which he started at the age of five race at his common entrance exam for the purpose of transferring on to further education in a sought after school in the village that is a school that we
00:40:39 the village that is a school that we would classify in the UK as a grammar school at the age of eleven however unfortunately ray did not reached the required marks in his exams and therefore remained in penal RC school
00:40:51 therefore remained in penal RC school ray did not like the strictness of the Roman Catholic regime and as a result he did not enjoy school ray left school when he was approximately 14 years old
00:41:03 when he was approximately 14 years old on ray leaving school at 14 he was given an opportunity by a local garage in the village of pnow to start an apprenticeship to become a car mechanic
00:41:16 apprenticeship to become a car mechanic ray had developed a reputation in the village of being fearless one that would take chances but someone who was also very reliable thoughtful and kind to his peers ray would often go fruit hunting
00:41:30 peers ray would often go fruit hunting in the UK I think we used to call it apple scrum back in the early days bearing in mind this hunting would be in the bush that
00:41:42 this hunting would be in the bush that his unclaimed unkept fields with snakes and all other forms of nature around a place where neither you or I would want to be
00:41:53 to be he would go out seeking mangos and other fruit bearing and other fruit bearing trees in the wild to share not only with his friends but also his family my
00:42:07 his friends but also his family my eldest sister recalls an incident in the local garage in pnow Trinidad where Ray was doing his apprenticeship there was an explosion everyone was panicking
00:42:18 an explosion everyone was panicking but raised a calm and stayed behind to help his comrades who were trapped at the back of the garage gray was injured in his attempt to help his comrades
00:42:30 in his attempt to help his comrades eventually ray and the others were rescued and even though Ray could have left he refused to leave until he knew everyone was safe
00:42:48 on hearing this information from the remaining family in Trinidad it became a priority for my parents to start making rain arrangements for Ray and my other two siblings namely Hollis and Gemma to
00:43:01 two siblings namely Hollis and Gemma to join them in the UK it had always been my parents intention to bring the children that had been left in Trinidad to the UK however due to finances it took my father and mother longer than
00:43:14 took my father and mother longer than they had expected to be able to save enough money to bring the remaining children to the UK ray arrived in the UK in 1969 he attended Isaac Newton boys
00:43:27 in 1969 he attended Isaac Newton boys school in labra and then went on to do his apprenticeship to become an electrical engineer when he was aged 16 at the House of Lords ray completed his
00:43:39 at the House of Lords ray completed his apprenticeship with the House of Lords and on completion was offered a full-time position within the complex
00:43:48 which service both the House of Lords and the House of Commons ray felt he had made it in life he had proved all the doubters in Trinidad wrong
00:43:59 doubters in Trinidad wrong our entire family was so proud of him in or about 1973 Raymond was married and had two daughters a daughter Marlene
00:44:11 had two daughters a daughter Marlene Anderson born in 1973 and a daughter Selina Bernhard born in 1978 who predeceased him in 2012

00:44:37 as I mentioned earlier he was not only my brother my rock and friend he was also my protector Moses as he was affectionately called as my elder

00:45:12 and will always be very proud of him growing up in Latimer Road with my childhood sister and best friend Jackie we spent most of our childhood and teenage years going to junior and secondary schools in the area our
00:45:24 secondary schools in the area our teenage years at secondary school one day we decided to take the day off school otherwise known as bunking off we went to school as usual in the morning went to registration then left the

00:45:43 naive 12 13 year olds unbeknownst to us and be known to us ray who would have been about 17 at the time was standing on the

00:52:12 Rey was also affectionately known as Moses a peaceful loving man truly loved by all his friends and family and all those who came into contact with him
00:52:27 those who came into contact with him even those who only knew him for a short period only had good things to say about him it is for all these reasons that I
00:52:39 him it is for all these reasons that I know my brother ray Moses was a truly blessed man and he will eventually be resting in peace over a period of 20
